No tension between Başbuğ and Iğsız, say lawyers

Lawyers for retired Chief of General Staff Gen. İlker Başbuğ and retired Gen. Hasan Iğsız on Thursday denied media reports about tension between their clients, who are both under arrest as part of a probe into anti-government websites.

Başbuğ's lawyer İlkay Sezer and Iğsız's lawyer Murat Ergün made a press statement on Thursday in which they said media reports about tension between Başbuğ and Iğsız are groundless.

On Thursday, a number of media outlets claimed that Başbuğ did not even want to share a prison vehicle with Iğsız because of Iğsız's remarks that had pointed to Başbuğ as having ordered the establishment of websites that promoted anti-government propaganda.

Both Başbuğ and Iğsız are jailed in Silivri Prison. Iğsız served as deputy chief of General Staff during Başbuğ's term.
