Turks and Kazakhs sign contracts in defense industry

Turkish defense contractors signed several agreements with Kazakh counterparts, boosting cooperation between the countries’ defense industries during a May 5 defense fair in the Kazakh capital of Astana, where products made by Turkish defense companies attracted great interest.

At the fair, Turkish and Kazakh companies signed three agreements, including one between Turkey’s Otokar and Kazakhstan Engineering on the joint production of Cobra armored vehicles, the Anatolia news agency reported on Monday. Speaking to the Anatolia, head of the international cooperation department at the Turkish Undersecretariat for the Defense Industry (SSM) Lütfi Varoğlu said that 16 Turkish companies attended the KADEX 2012 International Defense Fair in Astana.
