Bulgaria, Azerbaijan agree on gas deliveries

Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have agreed on the delivery of Caspian gas, a deal Bulgaria hopes will ease its dependence on supplies from Russia.

Under the deal, which was signed in Baku, the Azeri capital, gas deliveries could start in 2014, provided that an operational gas link between Bulgaria and neighboring Turkey is built by then, the energy ministry said in a statement on Friday.

No financial details were released.
