Third indictment of KCK case completed

27 April 2012, Friday /TODAY’S ZAMAN
The third indictment prepared by İstanbul Specially Authorized Prosecutor Bilal Bayraktar, filed as part of an investigation into the terrorist Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), was completed and sent to the İstanbul 15th High Criminal Court on Friday.

The 800-page indictment -- filed as part of an investigation into the KCK, an umbrella group that encompasses the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) -- names 44 suspects, 36 of whom are in jail pending trial. Many of the suspects are journalists and are accused of being part of the KCK’s press committee. The indictment reportedly contains 102 files. This indictment is referred to as the “third KCK indictment” as other courts have previously accepted two other indictments related to the KCK. The KCK investigation started in December 2009, and many suspected KCK members, including several mayors from the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), have been detained. The suspects are accused of various crimes, including membership in a terrorist organization, aiding and abetting a terrorist organization and attempting to destroy the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
