Five arrested over doctor's murder

6 April 2012, Friday /TODAY'S ZAMAN
Five out of seven detainees have been arrested over suspected links to the murder of Dr. Bilgin Gürateş, who was found dead with a bullet wound to his groin on Tuesday on a plot of land in the Gümüşkavak district of the eastern province of Elazığ.

Gürateş, a doctor at Fırat University Hospital who was reported missing on March 28, was found with his feet and hands bound and a rope around his neck. Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder and detained seven suspects who were later referred to an Elazığ court after the police interrogated them. The court arrested five of the suspects and released the other two.
