Molu Mücevher (Molu Jewelry) has launched a project to fight violence against women with support of fashion designer Tanju Babacan and women's rights organization 35 Milyon Derneği (35 Million Foundation). The company will hold a fashion show called “Örce Kadın” (The Woman Örce) at the Adile Sultan Palace on March 19. Famous TV personality Seyfi Dursunoğlu, who usually dresses like a woman on his shows, will model a special “Örce Kadın” outfit that night. A concert by Turkish singer Emel Sayın will follow the fashion show.
Event proceeds will be forwarded to charities that help women who are subjected to domestic violence. Moreover, as part of the same project, specially designed bracelets with a single-winged angel will be sold for three months. The money will be used for victims of domestic violence.
Molu Mücevher CEO İlhan Molu explained at a press meeting on Thursday that the “Örce Kadın” project was inspired by a story of the same name. He said he heard the story from his mother, which is about the results of violence against women. Molu said the project aims to keep domestic violence on the agenda of the nation and to create public awareness on the issue of violence against women. The company had a Belgian diamond center cut a diamond in the shape of a teardrop and wishes to establish a teardrop-shaped diamond as a symbol of the reaction to domestic violence. The motto of the project is that every teardrop should be as valued as a diamond.
