Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has expressed hope that grounds for reconciliation on a rift between religious institutions of Serbia’s Muslim-dominated Sandžak region may finally have been found and said Turkey would continue its efforts to see to an end of the dispute.

“Encouraged by the strong friendship between Turkey and Serbia, we are trying hard to bring solidarity and peace to Sandžak,” Davutoğlu was quoted as saying by the Anatolia news agency on Saturday from Belgrade, where he was to have bilateral talks with Serbian officials and review the current situation in the politically split Sandžak region. “We will keep working on the issue in cooperation with Serbia, and I am leaving with positive impressions,” said Davutoğlu.
