President Gül receives chair of Independent Commission on Turkey

President Abdullah Gül on Wednesday received the head of the Independent Commission on Turkey, former Finnish President Martti Oiva Kalevi Ahtisaari, and an accompanying delegation in Ankara, according to an Anatolia news agency report.

Gül's meeting with Ahtisaari took place at the Çankaya presidential palace and was closed to the press corps.

Ahtisaari is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and United Nations diplomat and mediator, often noted for his international peace work.
