Five people were killed, including a policeman, a gendarme and three civilians, and 10 people, including seven gendarmes, were injured in the attacks against a gendarmerie command building and the Şemdinli Police Department building. Resul Çetin (25) was among the civilians injured in the attacks and had been receiving treatment at the Van Teaching and Research Hospital; however, he died at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He reportedly will be buried in Altınsu village.
The PKK, which has recently stepped up its attacks in the country's east and Southeast, has killed more than 50 people in the past few months.
