Man reportedly kills 8-months pregnant sister

9 September 2011 /TODAY'S ZAMAN
A man allegedly shot and killed his older sister, who was eight-months pregnant, when an argument broke out between the two on Thursday in northeast Turkey.

Nesrin S. (24) reportedly moved back to her father's home in Çayeli, Rize province, after having problems with her husband. For reasons that are not yet clear, an argument then broke out between her and her younger brother, Uğur S. (23).

The quarrel escalated when Uğur S. allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on his older sister, shooting her eight times. Nesrin S. was taken to the hospital, but she and her child did not survive the severe injuries.

Uğur S., who had recently passed the specialist sergeant exam and was awaiting appointment, was detained by the police.

Nesrin S. had shared many photos with her brother on Facebook. Under one photo she commented: “My brother and I are very fond of each other. I wish you were here.”
