3-year-old falls, drowns in irrigation canal near home

Yusuf's family said the little boy was playing near their home in the town of Izgın when he suddenly disappeared. After searching for half an hour, the family said it found the lifeless body of the 3-year-old floating on the surface of the irrigation canal.

Davut Kılınç, Yusuf's uncle, said that he immediately brought his nephew to Elbistan State Hospital, but it was too late. “He was playing by the water when he fell,” he said.

The 3-year-old's parents, Hulusi and Mahiye Kılınç, said they were shocked and distraught.

Yusuf's older brother, Duran Kılınç, explained what happened: “He suddenly vanished. We searched for half an hour. Then we saw him floating on the surface of the water.”
