“Irregularities and missing information [regarding the number of voters] is not an issue of concern for the upcoming June 12 elections,” he stated.
Recently there have been claims suggesting that there has been an increase in the number of voters. Em responded to these claims by stating: “In 2007, voter registration procedures were carried out on the basis of declarations by voters. Starting in 2008, the law changed and voter registrations were done on the basis of voters' residential addresses. The difference in the numbers between the old and the new system stem from information given by individual voters prior to 2008, and the computer automated address-based registration system. Therefore, irregularities and missing information about voters is not an issue of concern for the upcoming elections.”
Em confirmed that in the June 12 elections, 199,207 ballot boxes will be used and 50,189,930 people will cast their votes.
