‘Today is our festival, we go ahead again’

19 October 2010 /TODAY’S ZAMAN
Felicity Party (SP) leader Necmettin Erbakan (84), who has been elected to the party’s leadership, said Sunday’s congress displayed the love, enthusiasm and sparkle of the Milli Nizam (national order) spirit.
The SP General Executive Board (GİK) on Monday held its first meeting following Sunday’s general congress at the party’s headquarters in Ankara. Erbakan’s son, Fatih Erbakan, and daughter, Elif Erbakan Altınöz, who are both GİK members, were in attendance at the meeting.

The newly elected leader of the SP was welcomed with chants including, “Prime Minister Erbakan,” “Mujahid Erbakan” and “Loyalty to Erbakan is our pride” at the entrance of the headquarters.

Starting his speech by saying a basmala [Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim -- In the name of God the Most Gracious the Most Merciful], Erbakan addressed the SP members. “I greet you as heroes and strong mujahids. Have a happy festival. You are the substance, self, history, belief, spiritual root and real representatives of this nation. In this sense, this festival is the entire nation’s festival,” he said. Evaluating Sunday’s congress as “magnificent,” Erbakan said he thanked God for letting him experience such a joy. “It will be seen that the day of Oct. 17 when our congress took place is a turning point for humanity.”
