Turkey’s Mersin State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Japan’s Awashima Choir are embarking on a mini Turkey tour in a series of three concerts this week as part of the ongoing 2010 Year of Japan in Turkey.
The concerts by the Turkish orchestra and the 30-member Japanese choir will be conducted by Japanese composer-maestro Seiji Mukaiyama. The tour will get under way on Thursday with a concert at the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Congress Center. The second concert will take place Saturday in Ankara at the Turkish-Japanese Foundation Cultural Center, and the third concert will be on Sept. 27 at İstanbul’s Aya İrini Museum.
