Germany to host ‘mother of all derbies’

The Galatasaray Lions and the Fenerbahçe Canaries will meet in Germany in a derby as part of their pre-season training.

Sparks usually fly whenever or wherever the Lions and the Canaries clash -- in what is popularly dubbed “the mother of all derbies” by the local sports media. The game will take place on July 21 at Borussia Park Stadium in the German city of Mönchengladbach and will kick off at 8 p.m., the Fenerbahçe club announced on its website. Meanwhile, the Canaries noted that their pre-season camp in Belgium may last longer if they are pitted against a Belgian side or another team near that country in the Champions League third qualifying round after the draw in the Swiss city of Nyon next Friday.
