Six Kyrgyz citizens who were injured in clashes in Bishkek on April 7 came to İstanbul on Saturday for treatment. On April 7, demonstrators gathered in the capital city of Bishkek asking authorities to release opposition leaders. Demonstrators, who were blocked by security forces, set police vehicles on fire and launched a protest march, asking then-President Kurmanbek Bakiyev to resign.
President Bakiyev fled the capital on April 7 after a rally against corruption, rising utility bills and deteriorating human rights exploded into police gunfire and chaos that left 84 people dead and sparked protesters to storm the headquarters of the government. The interim government dissolved the parliament and halted the Constitutional Court. The interim government is expected to be in office for six months.
