Omani ambassador honored with medal

Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoğlu bestowed the Foreign Ministry's distinguished service medal on Omani Ambassador Mohammed bin Nasser Hamed Al-Wohaibi on Tuesday, a written statement released by the Foreign Ministry said.

Al-Wohaibi, who has served in Ankara for 12 years, was awarded the medal at the ministry in a farewell gesture before he vacates his post and departs for Oman on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Davutoğlu said Al-Wohaibi would bid farewell to Turkey on Wednesday , noting that the Omani ambassador had assumed an important role in boosting bilateral relations and improving of Turkey's relations with the Gulf region and the Arab world. 

The Foreign Ministry gave Al-Wohaibi, the dean of the diplomatic corps in Ankara by dint of his longevity at his post, the distinction due to his valuable efforts toward the improvement of bilateral and regional relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Turkey in all areas and for his contribution to the promotion of Turkey both in the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf region.
