Unarmed forces of Feb. 28 coup

Can it be said that the Feb. 28 coup was staged only by retired Gen. Çevik Bir and his friends? No. Surely the military was the main actor in the coup, but it is also a fact that the Feb. 28 coup was a multi-dimensional and many-sided coup. It was a coalition.
Apart from the generals and tanks, one part of the coup was “unarmed.” This is not a term I created, it is one commonly used. But this term has gained much more importance with the investigation launched against the coup perpetrators. I can safely say that without this “unarmed” and psychological side of it, the Feb. 28 coup would never have been as successful. That is why limiting the investigation to military officers is not right or fair.
