YÖK’s new program allows the opportunity for universities in Turkey to exchange students with educational institutions in other countries. In accordance with this newly introduced program, universities in Turkey will only be able to approve applications under the Mevlana Exchange Program if the accreditation of the chosen foreign university is accepted by YÖK. Accordingly, undergraduate students in Turkey will be able to apply to YÖK for a maximum of two semesters a foreign university that is allowed by the program.
Students enrolled in distance learning courses do not qualify for this benefit. Additionally, students taking associate degree courses, foundation year (university preparatory) students and first year students are also excluded from the exchange program.
Universities are required to announce on their websites the agreements they have approved. The maximum number of students allowed to study abroad per university as decided by YÖK will also be published on each university’s website.
In order to qualify for the Mevlana Exchange Program, a student must be working towards an undergraduate degree, master’s degree or doctorate.
