Hungarian Embassy hosts reception

Energy Minister Taner Yıldız and Turkey's chief EU negotiator Egemen Bağış attended the reception on the occasion of the Hungarian national day.

The Hungarian ambassador to Turkey on Friday hosted a reception on the occasion of the Hungarian national day, marking the 54th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and war of independence and the 21st anniversary of the founding of Republic of Hungary.

Members of the Turkish Parliament, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız and chief EU negotiator Egemen Bağış as well as members of the diplomatic corps in Ankara attended the reception, hosted by Hungarian Ambassador to Turkey István Szabo. Oct. 23 is Hungary’s national day, celebrating the proclamation of the Republic of Hungary in 1989 and is also the anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against the pro-Soviet government of the People’s Republic of Hungary. The uprising lasted from Oct. 23 until Nov. 10, 1956.
