MALATYA Due to drought the water level at Malatya's Çat Dam has fallen to alarmingly low levels.
State Waterworks Authority (DSİ) officials said in a statement that water levels in several Turkish dams were at critical lows, but that at some reservoirs they are at seasonally normal levels. The authorities said precipitation had been insufficient this year and that this was the reason for the lower water levels.
