We watch with appreciation Turkey's efforts for peace, Djiboutan president
Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gül in Ankara, Guelleh said that the tragedy in Gaza which had been going on for the past 21 days must be ended.
"We have come to Ankara upon an official invitation by our brother, Turkish President Abdullah Gül. We are honored to be here," Guelleh said.
"This is our first time visiting Ankara. We have discussed bilateral relations, regional issues and economic cooperation today," Guelleh said.
"While in Turkey, we will hold talks with Turkish businessmen and discuss issues pertaining to defense and security," Guelleh said.
"Djibouti is located in a troublesome geography. We organize international meetings in order to contribute to regional peace and stability," Guelleh said.
"Within this framework, we will host a meeting on January 26 with the participation of the International Maritime Organization. On top of the agenda will be incidents of piracy in the region and efforts to end such incidents," Guelleh said.
"Turkey is a country with which we have brotherly relations. Turkey has a special status in Africa and the Arab world. We watch with appreciation Turkey's efforts for peace. We want to express our support to Turkey's efforts in establishing peace in the Middle East," Guelleh said.
"We are saddened by the incidents taking place in Palestine. We believe that the resolution of the UN Security Council must be implemented. This tragedy, this disaster must be ended," Guelleh said.
"We discussed the Palestinian issue with President Gül as well as other issues that could be helpful for global and regional peace," Guelleh also said.
