Turkish-American ties to grow stronger, says US envoy
“The history of American foreign policy and the history of US-Turkish relations suggest there are, of course, changes from president to president. There’s also great continuity. And I think you see that on display nowhere more vividly than right here in this room. President after president has understood the importance of Turkey to the United States and of the United States to Turkey. President after president has engaged seriously, and in a very sustained way with Turkish leaders for decades,” the ambassador said.
“I don’t know what the future holds. Like all of you, I look forward to seeing the movie that we’ll be watching over the next four years of the Obama Administration. But I’m sure that we will remain friends, we will remain engaged and that the close bonds between our two countries will not only endure, but will thrive in the four years to come and in the many presidential terms to follow.”
