In the first incident, a fight is reported to have broken out between Onur and Belgin Yıldız at their home. The argument turned violent when Belgin Yıldız apparently grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her husband before fleeing the scene. Belgin Yıldız's mother found Onur Yıldız later on Tuesday with a knife in his chest and notified the police. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and paramedics tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. Police launched an investigation into incident and Belgin Yıldız was later arrested.
In a separate incident, a man who went missing two days ago was found dead in İstanbul's Büyükçekmece district on Tuesday. According to the Sabah daily, L.Ç. went to a police station on Sunday and reported that her husband, Erol Ç., had been missing for two days. The police launched an investigation into the incident. His body was found in the back of an abandoned truck on İstanbul's TEM highway on Tuesday.
As part of the police investigation, police discovered that Erol Ç. was reportedly in a relationship with Suzan K., who is also married and has two children. Erol Ç. had apparently called a colleague the same day he went missing and said he was going to meet with Suzan K. and asked his friend to cover for him at work. When police went to Suzan K.'s home, she reportedly confessed to killing him because he had beaten her. She was detained by the police.
Meanwhile, another incident took place in Konya's Akşehir district when a fight broke out between Halil İbrahim B. (53) and his wife, Dudu (48), for unknown reasons. The argument then turned violent when Halil İbrahim B. allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot his wife in the head, killing her instantly. He also critically injured his daughter, Gülten B. (25), who was trying to stop the couple fighting. Upon hearing the gunshot, the couple's neighbor called the police for help. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene. Gülten B. was taken to Akşehir State Hospital for treatment. The doctors report her to be in critical condition. The police have launched investigation into the incident and Halil İbrahim B. was detained and taken in.
Forty-seven women were killed as a result of domestic violence and a further 38 were victims of rape in the first three months of 2013.
