Fenerbahçe has been sent to the Union of European Football Association's (UEFA) disciplinary board as some of its fans attempted to enter the stadium without tickets in the away match against Czech side Viktoria Plzen on March 7, in which Fenerbahçe defeated Plzen 0-1.
According to an official statement made by Fenerbahçe on its website on Tuesday, the club was sent to the UEFA disciplinary board as 150 Fenerbahçe fans tried breaking the security barrier to get into the stadium without tickets. The statement said UEFA officials and Czech security personnel prevented the group from entering.
Fenerbahçe claimed that, in the letter sent by the UEFA to Fenerbahçe, it was stated that “Fenerbahçe club officials showed great effort to help the security [personnel].”
After winning 0-1 against Plzen, Fenerbahçe advanced to the quarterfinals in the UEFA Europa League with a 1-1 draw at home in its second-leg match on March 15.
