Roger Waters is set to bring his “The Wall” world tour to İstanbul next summer, Turkish media reported Thursday.
The Pink Floyd co-founder has confirmed that “The Wall” will hit İstanbul on Aug. 3, according to a report the Radikal daily posted on its website on Thursday afternoon.
Turkish entertainment companies BKM and GNL made the announcement in a joint statement issued on Thursday, the Radikal report said. The concert will be held at the İTÜ Arena, on İstanbul Technical University premises, it added.
Waters’ 2013 İstanbul concert will come seven years after his last performance here, when he played the Kuruçeşme Arena in the summer of 2006 as part of his “Dark Side of the Moon” tour.
The 69-year-old Waters embarked on this latest “Wall” tour in September 2010 in North America. His stage show sees a giant wall slowly rise between the 12-man band and the audience as Waters performs his autobiographical songs of disillusionment, including Pink Floyd’s biggest hit, “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2.”
Set to begin July 2013 with a concert in Belgium, the European leg of Waters’ tour will see the veteran rocker perform 25 concerts. The tour will wrap up in September in France.
