President Abdullah Gül, who has been receiving medical treatment at Ankara's Hacettepe University Hospital for a recurring ear problem over the past 10 days, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
The president was hospitalized on Aug. 23, cutting short a visit to Kyrgyzstan for the Second Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) in Bishkek, a visit he had begun on Aug. 22.
In a message posted on his Twitter account on Sunday, the president thanked Hacettepe University's rector and all hospital personnel for their efforts during his stay at the hospital. Gül also thanked his fellow citizens for their good wishes and prayers.
Gül, who was unable to attend Victory Day celebrations on Aug. 30, has postponed all foreign trips in the coming two months at the insistence of his doctors.
