Turkish President Abdullah Gül was advised to stay at a hospital Thursday night for the start of a treatment early on Friday, the president’s spokesman has said.
Ahmet Sever dismissed claims that Gül underwent an ear surgery and said the doctors decided to start medicine treatment and that it will start early on Friday. He added that the doctors advised Gül to stay at the Hacettepe University Hospital Thursday night. He noted that the doctors concluded that he does not need a surgery.
Turkish first lady Hayrunnisa Gül is also accompanying the president at the hospital.
Turkey president has earlier postponed trips to Israel, Iraq, Iran, Russia, Italy and Kazakhstan since 2008 due to the recurring ear infection.
Gül had to return from Kyrgyz capital Bishkek sooner than planned due to the same problem caused by the plane travel.
