LA Turkish film fest accepting short film submissions
The countdown to the second edition of the Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival (LATFF) officially began this week, with the festival’s organizers announcing on Monday that short film submissions for the event are already being accepted.
The only Turkish film festival held in California, the LATFF has a category of competition only for short films. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, with animated and fiction films of less than 20 minutes eligible, the Anatolia news agency reported on Monday.
In addition to the competition, the festival will also feature a selection of recent, international award-winning feature films by renowned Turkish directors. The inaugural festival presented films by auteurs Derviş Zaim and Semih Kaplanoğlu as well as first-time director Seren Yüce.
The festival’s organizers said last year that a feature film competition would be introduced for the event’s second year; however, that decision seems to have been shelved for another year, according to the festival’s website, www.latff.org.
The Second Los Angeles Turkish Film Festival is scheduled for Feb. 28-March 3, 2013, at Grauman’s Egyptian Theater.
