Fenerbahçe Chairman Aziz Yıldırım has expressed his support for the football team’s coach, Aykut Kocaman, saying no one can damage the reputation of Kocaman.
Yıldırım said in remarks to reporters on Monday that “some people” were offended by the fact that Fenerbahçe could survive a massive match-fixing scandal, which put the İstanbul club at the center of the allegations. “As long as I am here, coach Kocaman stays. We are pleased with his accomplishments and character,” he said. The Fenerbahçe chairman stayed in prison for a year due to his alleged implication in the scandal and a local court has now convicted him of match fixing. If the Supreme Court of Appeals upholds the ruling, he will go back to jail.
