With Ramadan arriving earlier in the summer this year, many weddings were delayed until after the three-day holiday celebrated at the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, putting a strain on sales during this time. However, as Verelli Turkey Sales Manager Tahsin Karaoğlu explained, there will be a serious demand for furniture following Eid al-Fitr as many couples are waiting for that time to get married. He stated: “According to the average over the previous five years, 650,000 couples marry each year and 200,000 of them marry in the months of April, May and June, meaning about two-thirds of [furniture] sales [to newlyweds] will be completed in the second half of the year, which is another sign of the rise in sales to come in the next few months.”
