Galatasaray beats Italy’s Lazio

Galatasaray, which is continuing its preseason preparations for the upcoming 2012-13 season, beat Italian football team Lazio 1-0 in a warm-up match in İzmir on Saturday evening.
In the sixth minute of the match, a free-kick taken by Galatasaray midfielder Selçuk İnan rebounded off Lazio’s defense. Later in the match, Emre Çolak’s shot hit the far post and went out of play. Swedish striker Johan Elmander put Galatasaray ahead 1-0 in the 16th minute. Selçuk, who prevented a goal opportunity for Lazio in the 16th minute, sent the ball into the penalty area in front of Elmander, who easily found the back of the net. Lazio had a good goal opportunity in the 37th minute. Hernanes crossed the ball in front of Sergio Floccari in the penalty area and a shot by Floccari hit the goalpost. The first half ended 1-0: advantage Galatasaray. In the second half, Lazio missed a clear chance in the 62nd minute. Lazio’s left midfielder, Senad Lulic, crossed the ball in the penalty area. Floccari hit the ball, but Selçuk headed the ball away from the goal area. There were no goals in the second half and host Galatasaray went home the victor.
