Smaller theaters included in Afife awards

Organizers of the Yapı Kredi Afife Theater Awards have abolished the requirement that in order for a play to be a candidate for an Afife award it has to be staged at least 25 times at a theater with a minimum audience capacity of 75.
The move came as a result of criticism that the event ignores smaller theaters in determining which plays are eligible to participate in the competition and the awards were shared by state-funded theaters and some large private theater companies. The new rule will be effective starting from next year’s awards.
