Turkish prime minister due in UK

24 July 2012 /TODAYSZAMAN.COM WITH WIRES
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to visit the United Kingdom on July 26 to meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron and to attend the inauguration ceremony for the 2012 London Olympic Games as Cameron's guest.

After the inauguration ceremony on July 27, the two premiers are scheduled to watch the basketball game between Turkey and Angola's national women's teams.

The London Olympics mark various firsts for Turkey. The country will be represented in several sports from which it has been absent in previous editions of the world's premier sporting event, including badminton and gymnastics. Turkish athletes will compete in a total of 16 disciplines, also a first.

Another major breakthrough for the nation is that women now outnumber men on the Olympic team. This is mostly due to the national volleyball and basketball teams, which both won the right to participate in the Games.

PM Erdogan should also address issues concerning North Cyprus, why are the Turkish Cypriot athletes left as just spectators again to rot under unjust embargoes while Greek Cypriots get a first class VIP treatment to London. Where is this so-called support we have in the British parliament.
LEVENT
London is a world class city hopefully PM Erdogan will acknowledge what it takes to create a beautiful city such as London. Istanbul is also an amazing city but lacks the professional workmanship it deserves. Companies who are hired to maintain pavements and roads are very unprofessional in Turkey a...
