Two soldiers injured in mine explosion in Erzurum
Two soldiers were injured in eastern province of Erzurum when their vehicle drove over a mine, thought to have been planted by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred along the highway between the Refahiye district of Erzurum and the eastern province of Sivas. A passer-by who witnessed the accident called an ambulance and the soldiers were transferred to Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Research and Teaching Hospital.
An operation has been launched in the area to apprehend those responsible. Erzincan Police Chief Mustafa Eleman and several soldiers went to the hospital to visit the injured.
