Syrian general, military officers defect to Turkey

A Syrian general, along with a dozen military officers, defected and fled to Turkey on Wednesday.

A total of 246 Syrian refugees, including a general, five colonels, four majors, two captains, one lieutenant as well as several soldiers and their families, crossed into Turkey on Wednesday through the villages of Kuşaklı, Bükülmez and Kavalcık in Hatay province's Reyhanlı district.

The civilians, most of whom are women and children, were sent to the Ceylanpınar and İslahiye camps, while the officers and their families were taken to the Apaydın camp.
