Most Turkish dailies reported on the main opposition CHP's 34th ordinary congress, during which delegates voted to re-elect Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the post of party chairman. The Cumhuriyet daily highlighted Kılıçdaroğlu's pledge of commitment to change and democracy.
Another topic that was widely reported on was a large fire that broke out in a 42-storey high-rise in the center of İstanbul. Several dailies mentioned that a tragedy was prevented by the building's smart compression system and that residents were able to escape without injury.
The Türkiye daily also covered ongoing clashes between regime supporters and opposition groups in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The daily stated that after 16 months the Free Syrian Army was finally pounding on the door of the capital city.
