Cirque du Soleil will perform an additional three shows as part of its upcoming İstanbul stint in autumn, the Turkish organizers of the event announced this week.
The world-famous Canadian contemporary circus company will present its long-running show “Alegria” in a total of 11 performances scheduled for late September at the Ülker Sports Arena, on İstanbul’s European side, and for early October at the Ora Arena, on the Asian side, Pozitif Live said in a written statement on Thursday.
According to the rescheduled program, Cirque du Soleil will now be onstage Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 28-30 at the Ülker Sports Arena and from Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 12-14 at the Ora Arena. Cirque du Soleil’s 2012 İstanbul shows, sponsored by Finansbank, come two years after their first-ever appearance here, in February 2011. Tickets are available at Biletix.
Founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberté, Cirque du Soleil today brings together more than 1,300 dancers, artists and musicians from 50 countries. “Alegria,” a show in nine acts, features 55 of the company’s performers.
