Fenerbahçe will play its first five games behind closed doors, including two derbies against Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş. Fenerbahçe was imposed with the penalty due to incidents that broke out during the team's match against Galatasaray in the final week of the season in May. Defending champion Galatasaray's last two games are derbies against Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor.
The schedule of the first week is as follows: Galatasaray vs. Kasımpaşaspor; İstanbul BŞB vs. Beşiktaş; Elazığspor vs. Fenerbahçe; Eskişehirspor vs. Akhisar Belediyespor; Kayserispor vs. Bursaspor; Gaziantepspor vs. Sivasspor; Gençlerbirliği vs. Medical Park Antalyaspor; Kardemir Karabükspor vs. Trabzonspor; and Mersin İY vs. Orduspor.
The season begins on the Aug. 18-19 weekend and will end on May 19, which also marks Turkey's Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Before every game in the upcoming season, 22 children will take to the pitch alongside the football players to promote fair play.
The play-offs system which was introduced to Turkish football in the middle of last season will not be used next season after a decision by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), which came after strong opposition from the clubs of the Spor Toto Super League.
