Just stop

29 June 2012 /AHMET ALTAN
If I know begging will work, I will beg. But I know that this journey along the road to trouble along which we are swiftly heading can be stopped only by the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) grassroots and administrators who see the truth.

This journey won’t end until these people raise their voices. We are slowly being broken into pieces. Today, the AK Party’s internal politics are represented by Internal Affairs Minister İdris Naim Şahin. And it is Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu who represents the foreign politics. Şahin is a perfect example of a Turkish nationalist. And Davutoğlu is following his dream of rebuilding the Ottoman Empire in the Middle East. We have experienced two great tragedies in the Mediterranean. In one of them, we lost nine of our people to the Mavi Marmara flotilla raid and, in the other, we lost two of our pilots who had entered Syrian airspace. Both incidents are reasons for war. Why do we keep drawing near war, both wearing us down and showing other countries that we are not actually capable of making war?
