One of Turkey's leading private carriers, Pegasus, commenced flights to the southeastern province of Batman on June 8.

The company last month started flights to Gaziantep in the same region. Batman is the eighth destination in the Southeast for Pegasus. Pegasus introduced its Batman flights in a press meeting on Friday. Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek also participated in the event. Şimşek thanked the Pegasus family for its efforts to help pick up the relatively less developed southeastern region.

“We have faith the Batman airport with its annual capacity of 3 million passengers will start international flights in a short time,” the minister noted. Pegasus CEO Ali Sabancı said Batman residents will have the opportunity to connect to 34 foreign destinations via the Pegasus flight network. The carrier will fly passengers to İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport from Batman seven days a week at prices starting from TL 63.
