Group calls for opening of Hagia Sophia as mosque

A group of people from the Anatolian Youth Association (AGD) performed the morning prayer on Tuesday outside Turkey’s historic Hagia Sophia Museum on the occasion of the 559th anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul and called on state officials to re-open the Hagia Sophia for prayers.
Thousands of Muslims, including members from the AGD, also performed noon prayers last week outside the Hagia Sophia to protest the law that bars religious services at the former church and mosque.
