During a protest against the police in Adana's Seyhan district on May 23, 14-year-old G.D. shouted slogans sympathetic to the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), then mistakenly dropped the Molotov cocktail he was going to throw at the police and injured himself.
G.D., who has recently been released pending trial, told a court in his testimony that a man named Hayrettin handed him a homemade Molotov cocktail and told him that he would get TL 5 if he threw it at the police. “I did not do anything against the law. I am not a member of any illegal organization,” said the teenager.
In Adana's Seyhan district in March, when a pro-PKK group gathered outside the Dağlıoğlu Police Station, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at the police, a homemade bomb exploded in the hands of a 16-year-old, causing him to lose four fingers.
