In the early years of his presidency, Gül sometimes had his phone calls with leaders of other countries cut off due to technical problems.
Thanks to the new mobile equipment, Gül will also be able to use a satellite phone during his visits abroad.
Gül reportedly used a satellite phone during his recent visits to African countries in addition to a visit to Iran last year when jammers blocked GSM lines, and Gül had to make an emergency call.
Gül to use digital signature
In line with Gül's demand to go paperless, there are ongoing efforts at the presidential palace to establish a system in which documents that do not need physical signatures can be signed with digital signatures. Once this system is established, Gül will use a digital signature to sign documents when a physical signature is not necessary.
Website of Presidency more popular
The palace website, which has frequently been updated since Gül became president in 2007, attracts a lot of interest from the public. Newly discovered photos of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the nation's founder, have been placed on the website. Visitors are also able to go on a virtual tour of the presidential palace. There are also documentaries about former presidents in addition to information about Gül's activities and visuals from his visits.
