First-time finalist İsmail Keleş of Turkey shot a final-best 102.3 to rise from fifth to second place and a silver medal with 684.3, three-tenths of a point ahead of Vladimir Goncharov of Russia, at the ongoing World Cup 10-meter air pistol event in Milan.
Meanwhile, Tan Zongliang rebounded, after three years out of the China shooting team, to win his first 10-meter air pistol title in six years on the same Milan range on Wednesday. Also, top-ranked Olena Kostevych of Ukraine won the women’s event by more than two points, despite shooting below her best. Tan, a Beijing Olympic silver medalist, qualified second for the men’s final then hit the nine-ring four times but finished on top with an overall score of 684.6.
