Banvit took a 1-0 lead in the semifinals of the men’s Beko Turkish Basketball League (TBL) championship playoffs, edging Anadolu Efes 68-66 at home on Wednesday.
The Balıkesir side started off the game on a good note, leading the first quarter 16-12 while Efes from İstanbul tied the score at 30-30 at halftime. Anadolu Efes took the upper hand in the third quarter and took a 51-48 lead. Banvit dominated the game in the final half of the fourth and last quarter and wrapped up the game: 68-66. The second-leg game between the two teams is set to take place on May 18 again in Balıkesir.
