Turkish warplanes intercept Israeli jet violating Turkish Cyprus airspace

Turkish warplanes have intercepted an unidentified Israeli jet violating Turkish Cypriot airspace, Turkish army said.

Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Wednesday that an Israeli fighter jet violated airspace of Turkish Cyprus on Monday for five times for eight minutes in total. The statement said two Turkish F-16 fighter jets were dispatched to the Turkish Cypriot airspace to intercept the Israeli jet.

Israel raids turk. ships and violates turk. airspace and what does turkey in responce? It sends his virtual agent Polat Alemdar to virtually punish the enemy, just to give turks the felling something is being done. Poor action. And in future there will be nothing new.

The headline should read 'Israeli warplanes violating occupied Republic of Cyprus airspace'. It's a bit rich from Turkey to complain, afterall her continuous violations of Cypriot and Greek airspace on a daily basis do not go un-noticed.

@Mark Kerpin TRNC has it's own community that speaks Turkish with it's own elected government for the last 38 years or so, that's good enough to have your own airspace Mark! Read the 1960 constitution it states that Turkish Cypriots are partners of the island. Anyhow I hope the Israeli jets repeat t...

The next time it should be downed without a warning. Just punish them even for crossing 1 inch into the Turkish Cypriot airspace.

Since no country recognizes Turkey's occupation of Cyprus, what exactly is "Turkish Cypriot" airspace?

If these jets where Turkish pilots flying into Israeli air space they would have been shot down immediately, Turkey as usual missed another opportunity to punish Israel.
