Konya Torku Şeker Spor cycling team’s sponsor Panko Union has said the team has brought glory to Turkey with its success in the 48th annual Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey (TUR), which ended on Sunday in İstanbul.
Bulgarian cyclist Ivailo Gabrovski of Turkey’s Konya Torku Şeker Spor team was crowned champion in the overall individual classification with a time of 28:48:10. Panko Union Director Recep Konuk told the Cihan news agency: “The bicycle is the sport horse of Konya. We began supporting [the club] many years ago and will continue to contribute to Konya Torku Şeker Spor, one of the oldest clubs in Turkey.” “We are working with Konya Torku Şeker Spor for the development of professional cycling in Turkey. Last year Konya Torku Şeker Spor, the first professional cycling team in Turkey, competed in this race for the first time. This year we finished the race with results that make Turkey proud,” Konuk said. “Our cyclist Ivailo Gabrovski was the leader of the tour. It made us really proud to see him among well-known professional cyclists,” he added.
