Spc. Sgt. Kemal Özdoğan, who showed sympathy towards a 15-year-old Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) member by giving him his coat and consoling him, was killed by PKK terrorists during an operation in Bingöl.
The 28-year-old solider was buried in his hometown of Kahramanmaraş, in the Elbistan district, on Friday. Özdoğan is commonly remembered for the kindness he showed a young member of the PKK in December after a military operation was staged in Bingöl when he gave his coat to the boy, who had turned himself over to Turkish soldiers during the operation, who had said he was cold.
Meanwhile, police seized 35 kilograms of explosives in a raid in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province on Friday. A PKK terrorist was injured when a clash erupted between terrorists and police and was taken to the Diyarbakır State Hospital.
