Turkish prime minister congratulates Putin over election victory

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has congratulated newly elected Russian President Vladimir Putin, who secured almost 64 percent of the votes on Sunday, over his electoral victory that brought him to the Russian presidency for the third time.

A statement released by the Turkish Prime Ministry said Putin told Erdoğan that Russia attaches importance to bilateral relations with Turkey and promised that he will work to advance ties between the two nations further in the period ahead.
